The lawn is very often a big part of the landscape design or someone’s yard. You might have huge patch of water demanding Kentucky Blue Grass or a low water variety like Creeping Red Fescue as part of your yard. But no matter what type of lawn you have, there will always be the need to keep it properly cut, trimmed and fertilized. A lawn will become brownish in color and generally tired looking over time, if there’s not regular attention given to it’s care. This is where our Lawn Repair Service can be important. Oxygen, water and food are the three elements to a successful lawn. When we look at a lawn that isn’t vibrant green, it is not a mystery to determine what needs to be done.
Step #1:
Be sure you have an adequate source of irrigation water. Most of the time people have too much water on their lawns. We often show them how to reduce their watering; saving money and a precious resource at the same time.
Step #2:
We will remove the dead/brown grass blades that can create a thick mat, which prevents oxygen and food from reaching the root system. This is called ” de-thatching “. We might do this with a hand rake or with a power rake. Either way, the idea is to gently remove the matted dead/brown blades of grass. Once that’s been done, we would need to plug the lawn to allow water, oxygen and fertilizer to easily reach the root zone. With these two things completed, we can move on to Step Number Three.
Step #3:
The final step in the process is to fertilize ( feed ) and properly water your lawn. How much fertilizer and water completely depend upon the type of grass variety you have, where you are located ( weather conditions ) and the type of soil you have, ( sandy, clay, etc ). But once we have the feeding and irrigation set, you will be on your way to a beautiful lawn. One way we like to complete this part of the process is to install a Fertigation System. We have posted a blog about Fertigation that explains this system.
